Daedelus, the eccentric, electronic maestro of the Pacific is one of LA's most daring new artists. This young musical romantic weaves together a true "love-sound" that falls between honeyed melody and avant-electronics. Daedelus chops and splices disparate acoustic sources into incredible works of staggering resonance, with his now legendary mastery of the Monome.
Contrasting IDM styled cut-ups with childlike arrangements from the 30's and 40's, he has refined a style that has no imitators. Exactly the kind of music you'd expect from a scarily well-connected hip hop nut who happens to dress in Edwardian clothing and names himself after an Ancient Greek Legend. Having been sampled by Madlib and with a body of work including releases through Mush, Plug Research, Hefty, Tigerbeat6, and Eastern Developments, Daedelus' rep is long since established. Daedelus is currently signed to Ninja Tune home to the likes of Kid Koala, Mr. Scruff and the Cinematic Orchestra.

Canadian act Milosh makes a welcome return to Ireland after a debut performance in November as part of The Model Art Center and Donal Dineens acclaimed experimental music series Month of Sundays.
The brainchild of Mike Milosh (Toronto, Canada) and now a live two-piece, Milosh occupies that near impossible-to-describe musical space that drifts between the minimalism of electronica and the warmth of acoustic singer/songwriters, with some R&B vocals thrown in for good measure.
A poetic lyricist it is Mikes outstanding voice that gives each track the soul and warmth that lifts them out of the electronica stable; these are not your standard electronic tracks with vocals stapled on top, rather the vocal element is muted and stretched to the point where his voice becomes just another instrument layered into the tapestry of the song.
Puzzle Muteson is a rare breed of performer who manages to delicately blend the
line between dreams and reality.
In the past he has played the main stage of the Isle of White Festival on the
same day as The Who and the Manic Street Preachers and also appeared at last
years Bestival.
Puzzle Muteson frames elements of Yo La Tengo, Bonnie Prince Billy, Cat Power,
Jose Gonzalez and Coco Rosie in a slightly folkier setting. He is set to
release his debut single as a split 7" record in the summer.
Jimi Cullen does not preach from a high horse, instead he shows us, sometimes not too
gently, of what is really going on and then leaves it up to us.
Jimi is a solo musician from Gorey, his music can best be described as a mix
between Folk, Grunge, Blues and Rock mixed with a healthy dose of originality.
His music even touches on rap and spoken word. His lyrics are often quite
politically and socially aware with songs about War, Poverty, Injustice and the
Homeless, but often humorous too.
Exploding onto the Cork scene in early 2007, Private Underground Residence, left bits and pieces of their music all over peoples
suspecting and increasingly avalanched ear drums supporting for such
groups as Rest, Jezery, So So Modern and Giveamanakick. Made from
pieces of the ex-Limerick groups Kader Fire and The Kyboshi, and glued
together with a piece of Cork group the Loser Lounge the band embrace
everything from groups such as Battles, Fugazi and the Oxes to Aphex
Twin and Squarepusher. Refusing to put their music in a hole with
pigeons the band instead allow all it to run all over the place
picking up the strangled vibrations of genre upon genre as it moves
along. 2008 will see the band introduce themselves politely to more
and more souls around the country with a debut ep on the cards to be
launched through all manner of speakers. Continuing evidence of the
bands existence can be found at
Lamp is a two piece progadelic band based in Cork. This two headed,
four armed lazy as fek, procrastinating monster is made up of two
young men with sickeningly Irish surnames; Ted Murphy(drummer in
Jezery) and Shane O' Leary(guitarist/singer in Jezery). These two
wasters have known each other for nearly 10 years and have been
playing in bands together since the age of about 15. Despite all this
they're still sloppy as muck, although every now and then, when the
moon is right they pull off the mindboggeling, hole tingling
experience of sounding tight.

You got your dark times and you got your happy times. We are somewhere in the middle. We write happy songs about not so happy things, with the intention of making the awful seem not so bad. If you feel that we have made the not so bad seem awful then we have failed, and we apologise.
For all the fatalism in the lyrics, there are hints of rapprochement,
renewal, maybe even a happy ending and that even when you think the world is
going down the toilet, you have no choice but to be hopeful and root for
things to improve. You never know who will pop in the door or what will
happen next.
Ciaran Byrne is an Irish producer who started off as many aspiring bleep warriors do - constructing scruffy, arpeggiated synth runs over drum parts that are so heavily crowded that the sequencer starts to smoke.
But since then a lot has changed. After sending a two track demo to Psychonavigation records in 2004, Dublin's small, but conscientious underground sat up and took notice.
Influenced heavily by artists such as Cylob, Afx and tape loop chieftans Boards Of Canada, Ciaran blends absorbing, celestial melodies that bring the past into focus with unyielding, complicated drum patterns that keep your brain hopping.
Ciaran's debut album, 'Galtrim' is available now on Psychonavigation records and the follow up will be available as of May 2008.
Ciaran will also be releasing an ep with Envizagae records in the near future.
Mary Harney Must Die formed in October 2006 by Ed Blunden [Drums], Mark Heffernan and Jason Lynch [Guitar], recruiting Cormac Duggan [Bass] soon after. They play their own brand of instrumental rock, and they dedicate themselves to the never ending death of Mary Harney !?.
Resurrect are a Tralee based metal band who were formed in the beginning of 2007, its members consist of Jack Doyle on guitar, Barry Enright on bass
(for now), Matthew Sutton on vocals and Timmy Reidy on drums. They are
currently recording their self titled début E.P. due for release in the
beginning of 2008.
Gen 26 is a solo experimental/noise project of Slovenia sound artist Matjaz
Galicic and is dedicated to sound experimentation, natural, urban noise, sound deviation and manipulation. He uses different sound sources, from balloons, kitchen utilities to laptop. All this is done on the level of improvisation through self-thought manipulation elements. Matjaz has been involved in DIY music activism in Slovenia since the early 90's and has been involved in several Zines, Labels and Collectives.
Support will be from the improv group Billy, John and Keith, which is comprised
of Billy, John and Keith,, but all better known by their respective first
names. All three make music individually in some shape or form - how exactly,
isn't important.
They all pretend not to read The Wire, but when pushed, will admit to finding
the strange music featured in the pretentious pages of the magazine pretty
interesting. They like when things are non-linear, unpredictable and erratic.
They're all partial to a bit of danger now and again, so they've decided to meet
in a room with numerous instruments, devices and noise-machines to improvise a
set of sounds. They will create sounds, loop sounds, distort sounds - all
through the collective consciousness of a headnod. They have all done this
before, but not that often. They like the idea of creating something new
without prior rehearsal. They will have effects units, loop stations,
microphones, bicycles, turntables, computers, sandals, soundeffects and clean
fingernails. They all like Battles, Keith Fullerton Whitman and Edan, but they
won't sound like any of these artists.

Founded in 2003 The Infomatics met while attending in a Dublin college. All coming from differnt musical backgrounds with a wide variety of influences, they fused our knowledge to create the soulful-electro-hip-hop there known for today.
Boc produces beats and tunes which are the perfect platform for emcee's Konchus Lingo and Dero to deliver thought through their lyrics and distinctive flow.
Self-determined, self-reliant, self-actualized and entrepreneurial, The Infomatics are quickly proving to their audience that they will be a force in Hip-Hop for years to come.
Their revolutionary take on music is without boundaries, effortlessly fusing hip-hop, electronica, soul, jazz and reggae to create a completely original and unique sound; not only innovators in the studio, their groundbreaking performances whilst sharing the stage with acts like NaS, Ice T, Guestlove and Soul II Soul confirm their bright future.
With the release of their album Kill or Create gaining critical acclaim and widespread airplay, the overwhelming response from audiences, critics, and industry insiders makes it clear that the future is now for this Dublin outfit.
Jung Turks are James P. Rooney (drums, percussion, sonics) and Edward D. Rooney (nylon string guitar). They play what is known as ĆjĂŁipha - this musical form is based on the belief that the artist is a channel through which the infinite reveals. Through study of ĆjĂŁipha masters from Duluth, Calw, Paola, Algeciras, Jajouka, Belfast and Aracataca the brothers' pallette has developed and musical boundaries diminished.
Since their inception in the spring of 2005 they have performed to audiences across Ireland, on occasion in the company of such subterranean heroes as The Redneck Manifesto, giveamanakick, The Jimmy Cake, The Dublin Guitar Quartet, Ten Past Seven, Blood On The Wall, Larrikin Love and Orson.
Windings is Stephen Ryan [one half of Givamanakick], who started playing live in 2002, since then Windings' sound has radically fluctuated and distorted, but has always retained the sense of melody so intrinsic to the music. Armed with only a guitar, a voice, and a bunch of strange little effects pedals, Windings is a truly distinctive one man show. After selling over 250 handmade demos (Fireworks Demo) through 2004 Irish live gigs alone, Windings completed work on his debut album 'Windings' which ranges in style, from the wonderful metallic clatter of Postal to the more folky introspection of Bubbles, with Aisling Geary's [from Tralee] cooing counterbalancing Ryan's worldweary vocals. The album is available on Out On A Limb Records.

Craiceann are a 4-piece percussion band. The percussive backbone of the band play their interpretation of traditional West African rhythms, Cuban flavoured songs and even a little dash of Brazilian Samba Reggae. These rhythms are played on a wide variety of percussion instruments, namely, Djembe drums, (a traditional African hand drum) and the Djun Djuns, (three stick played bass drums), Congas, (3 Cuban hand drums), Repenique (Brazilian stick drum), Snare drum and the bells and whistles of the smaller percussions! This mix is also complimented by singing and flute. Just make sure to bring your dancing shoes!
Alphastates are currently working on their second album, the follow up to 2004's "Made From Sand", which was described as "the freshest, most vital Irish release in an age". Alphastates have played at Witnness twice and to their biggest audience yet when 6000 people packed their tent at the Oxegen festival in 2004. They have shared stages with Throwing Muses, Sinead O' Connor, Cat Power, The Frames, The Beta Band and Lali Puna. Their music is currently in demand for both TV and Film productions, including Irish drama series "The Big Bow Wow" , and in Irelands national television station RTE's sport advertising campaign. Courtesy of their phenomenal live performances they have built up a strong fanbase around the country. They were invited by RTE to perform on the programme "Other Voices Songs From a Room" , alongside Steve Earle, the Mark Lanegan Band (Queens of the Stone age) and many others. They were also selected from thousands of other bands to have a video made by the prestigious New York Film School of their pulsating single Addicted. Alphastates also won Band of the Year and Best Electronic Song in American Indie website iacmusic.com's annual awards for 2006. They spent most of the year at the top of IAC's charts, three of their songs reaching the top spot and staying there for several months. They are currently putting the finishing touches to their second, as yet untitled, album.

Not content with being a rockÂĄ n roll band Poles Apart also play a neat combination of Latino jazz, funk and blues which, with their Polish romantic sensibilities, makes their music a great fusion of excellent sound and fiery Polish temper.

Dr. Polly Fibre is Christine Ellison is an Irish artist based in London. With a background in graphic design and fashion, her work traverses a range of contexts from printed publications to installations and performances as Polly Fibre. Since 2005 she has performed in New York and Cleveland, as well as regularly in London and Ireland. Her first solo show will open on May 3rd 2007 at The Toilet Gallery in Kingston, London. At ClubHeadBangBang she will perform two pieces:
Cut & paste âcomposition for scissors & tape.
Glitch stitch âimprov. with sewing machine(s) and various materials.
Pollyâs performances are a series of indiscreet* compositions that explore aspects of her contemporary culture through a post-digital aesthetic. The work reverts analogies that have become absorbed by digital technology -renegotiating terms such as CUT & PASTE through materials, objects and machinery. Processes of construction are unravelled to reveal their core elements. These become the raw material to build new compositions in a performative context where there is an emphasis on the deconstructive and reconstructive processes.

Roper from Limerick City are together since 2002 with twins Brian O'Brien on vocals/guitar & Conor O'Brien on bass along with Brian Meaney on drums. Guitarist Bryan Griffin joined the band in 2005 and lo the current line-up was complete.
The band have been very busy over the last few years winning the Miller Strat Band of the Year title in early 2005 in Limerick's Trinity Rooms then making the final 5 bands out of 600+ entries in the Brave New Stage competition in Dublin's Whelans. That year also saw them play a legendary gig on the main stage at Denny St. in Tralee for the final of the Live at the Rose comp.
Roper released their 'Left to Stampede' EP in 2005 and recorded their debut album 'Gallow's Hill' which has just been released.
The USAISAMONSTER is a brilliantly fried two-piece guitar and drums band of sun spotters hailing from Brooklyn, New York. The band has roved the planet with instruments strapped to their backs playing the tops of mountains, skin-melting deserts and rusted out America. They have trekked across Europe, America (too many times to count), Japan, Canada and Mexico.
Their sound is a synapse firing melt of rock and thoughtful, hardcore hippie
explosion tempered with tribal breakdowns and poli-enviro-conscious chants.
Both members of the band are in BLACK ELF SPEAKS, and the USAISAMONSTER have
have released various albums on Infrasound and Load Records (home to Lightning Bolt).

Unite Tribe are a seven piece band from North Co. Dublin. Formally known as the "Rastafenians" they got together in 2004. with nothing more than the intention to play some reggae and have fun. it wasn't long, however, before they realised that their wide ranging influencespushed them beyond the bounds of conventional reggae. They soon began writing original material that seemed to mould all these influences into something "the tribe" like to describe as "new wave Buy Music By Unite Tribe at Outersounds.iereggae". The first of their songs was "Head Police", and in this song, in its sound, the band found the direction in which they all felt comfortable to go.
Their most resent gigs include playing support to legendary jamaican duo "Isreal Vibration" in Dublins Crawdaddy and "The Black Seeds" in the Temple Bar Music Centre. They also Performed at the festival of world culture's in Dun Laoghaire and live on O'Connell St. at an anti-war war march.
The album "enlokari" has just been released.
Rest began life in late 1999 as Wretch. In 2001, the name was changed and a new direction was pursued as the band disposed of vocals. A two track demo was recorded following the change in direction, as the band continued to play sporadically around their home town.
Soon after, Rest began gigging more frequently, and, in 2002, played around the country for the first time. Numerous gigs around Ireland with numerous bands followed while the four piece wrote the material that what would become their debut album. Along the way, they were fortunate enough to come into contact with the people who would eventually go Out On A Limb and release their album, Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame. Cue more gigs. In 2005, bassist Mark departed the ranks, while the remaining trio of Graham, Steve and Johnny continued to write. As the year drew to a close, Rest headed into the studio with Ciaran O'Shea to record a two track EP, which again has seen Rest move in another direction.
In early 2006, Limericker Colm was welcomed into the fold, filling the vacant bass position, they are currently on tour to promote the new ep 'Opperation:impending Doom'. The band will also embark on their first British tour in April when they support Cult of Luna.
Fusing synthesisers with guitars, beats and the human voice is nothing new, but Corkonians Hooray For Humans manage to do it in a manner that sounds fresh, their influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth to The Notwist and Kraftwerk. Indeed, tracks like the wonderful âSignatureâ manage to sound like the otherworldly beauty of Arcade Fire crossed with the raw energy of The Stooges.
The band were formed by Alan Healy (vocals, guitar), who had spent four years playing with âtechnical metal" outfit My Remorse, and was soon joined by vocalist/keyboardist Ăine Mangaoang and drummer/keyboardist/programmer Darragh Enright. Shortly afterwards Darragh departed for a five month sojourn in Mexico (but is back this February) and with the addition of drummer Wayne Dunlea and bassist Dave Ahern (who both played with Waiting Room)
Well, what can we say? Johnny Doobs reckons this man is the most musical scratch DJ to emerge out of Ireland, and for once in his life, he might actually be right! Originally a Kerry native, Deviant (for some crazy reason) decided to leave the confines of the Kingdom behind and set up shop in Galway City along with all the other crusties. It was here that his status as a true turntable maestro developed, as he formed the legendary Unphadablez crew and became the main reason that the Drum Bar in the GPO smelled of sweat on a Sunday morning. A couple of classic mixtapes and DMC competitions later, Deviant headed for the sunny shores of Brighton to buy a whole heap of cheap records, hang out with some of the UK's best scratch DJs and sell some chips to the kids. He's just back on Irish soil after a year long hiatus, so expect loads of new tricks to be pulled out of his considerably baggy sleeve.

Born and raised in Brittany, France, JC spent his childhood speaking this
wierd french language, eating smelly cheese and wearing stripy T-shirts...
But soon he was to give it all up, and to spend most of his time cherishing
his world music.
He's been in ireland for 4 years now, and used to be a resident DJ in the BC
Club in Ilmenau, Germany. He currently studies Music technology in UL and
got a few gigs around Limerick City.
As he travelled and met many people from a bit everywhere, he got to listen
to music from obscure bands from various parts of the globe.
JC plays a worldwide selection of local musics, going from senegalese hip
hop to russian salsa, and from jamaican soul to chinese electronic music.

though, which've turned up on John Kelly's Mystery Train and at the Big Tree

Los Langeros hail from Corks hispanic quarter in the sunny south of Ireland and have been perfecting their contemporary cow-punk sound there for the last 2 & a half years. Their line-up represents thir musical diversity with a pan-European fusion of Irish, Scottish, Italian and English musicians. A screeching electric mandolin flanked by two guitar wielding madmen with jews-harp, harmonica, tambourine and outrageous catchy vocals all backed up by a ferocoius pounding rythm section lashing out some of the most intense country music ever. The groove is a punkabilly ska-tinged medley of singalong choruses and distorted 12-string melodies guaranteed to work any crowd into a screaming slobbering mess. Los Langeros have released 3 cds independently to great critical acclaim and have gigged consistently both at home and in the UK, sharing stages with the likes of Ten Past Seven, Rest, Giveamanakick, Stanley Super 800 and Rulers of the Planet. They regularly sell out shows in Cork and have won over audiences at festivals such as Electric Picnic and Spraoi. They are currently promoting their new 'Killing Frogs Ep'.

In the three years since their debut album, ..What..s Confusing You?, Messiah J & The Expert have won Best Dance Act in the Hot Press Readers Poll and were nominated for a Meteor Music Award. They also became a favourite of BBC Radio 1..s Steve Lamacq who invited them in for a live session. During that time, they refined and re-invented their sound, creating a record that borrows as much from other genres of music as it does from hip-hop. Boss Volenti are a hard hitting, hip shaking, no nonsense rock 'n' roll
band from Dublin. Their heroes range from such artists as Thin Lizzy and Al
Green to Led Zeppelin and Hall & Oates. Rob Daly and Dan O'Connor first met
while playing in bands around Dublin. Then followed Laura Mackey, who Dan
met while both were studying guitar at college. Drummer Graham Hopkins got
wind of the Boss Volenti sound and when he joined, all the pieces of the
puzzle slotted into place.
Volenti cut their live teeth at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival last
September in Dublin to rave reviews. On the strength of this, they were
invited to play the In The City Festival in Manchester last October. Since
then Boss Volenti have toured Ireland numerous times both as headliners and
playing support to such bands as The Chalets and Republic of Loose.
In February of this year, Boss Volenti independently released their first
single 'Deeper Than Deep' and it went straight into the Irish top 40. They
then released their second single 'Ain't no Use' in June to even greater
success. It received heavy daytime airplay, was playlisted by
2fm, championed by Tony Fenton on Today FM and regularly played on BBC NI
Radio. Both singles are still playlisted on Dublin's Phantom FM.
The band have an enviable reputation for their live performances and are
fast becoming one of the most exciting live acts around.
Jezery formed in late 2004/early 2005/midway through 2008 (may be the first lie of many, who knows?) amongst the doomed and dusty rubble of two bands. Ted Murphy and Shane O' Leary had been playing together for years as friends and also with many other musicians in different bands. Funking around with psychedelia, electronica, acoustica, and many other genres ending in 'a', the two lads had played many gigs but rarely in a consistent line-up. Jimmy Lyons and Shane O' Sullivan had been playing together for about two years, also in various line-ups (including a brief non-sexual affair with Ted Murphy in Mindscape). Jezery essentially came about as a result of four friends and musicians who were sick of dabbling here and there in music when it was all that they really enjoyed and loved.
Formed in the summer of 2006, 'Uptown Hustle' are rustling up some fresh
funky sounds to drop like bombs in the ears of the people. Drawing
inspiration from some of the Old Skool Funk legends like The Meters, Average
White Band and Stevie Wonder, the band are fresh out of the oven with some
new original material to let the vibes flow through. Members Gary Keane
(ex-Aphid) and Tommy Buckley met in Cork at music collage and have been
writing ever sense; soon after, Derek Davis (ex-Audio Gypsys) took over bass
clef duties and 'Uptown Hustle' were born.
The sounds can be described as a fresh new rejuvination of a genre which is
quickly becoming forgotten by mainstream music; a filthy, full on,
funk-dubious deliverance which won't be a flash in the pan to all those with
furious intentions of gettin' down!
Captain Insano are a metal band hailing from Co.Cork in Ireland and formed about 2 years ago from the seeds of various other bands. After a few member changes Captain Insano have never settled on a sound that they are happy with and will continue to experiment and evolve as a unit. In 2005, Captain Insano released their E.P. ''The Inevitable Conclusion To A Wasted Life'', from which 'Doombuggy' is taken. Download it, if you have balls of steel. Captain Insano are about to release their new EP, 'Howtofakeyourowndeath'.
I'll Eat Your Face is a two-man death/grind adventure comprising handsome prince Barrytron on drums and vocals, and outlandish sensation Barra who operates the guitar and dresses as a druid. The tunes are maniacal and groovy and never steer far from rats and pot for subject matter. It started as a home-demo affair when Barrytron was looking to form a band in London.
After two demos ("I'll Eat Your Face" and "Fist-Faced Justice-Patrol Gore-Squadron"), Barrytron finally let go and used an engineer (Jer Spillane) to get a better drum sound for his third effort.
Cubic Circle from Stuttgart, Germany play a mix of ska and punk, the band was formed in early 2003 and since then have played many gigs around Germany.

process of recording their follow up album. They promise to entertain with
their authentic sounds, expressive voices, full brass section, catchy tunes
and a show on stage which is full of energy.

Fred donât do high brow. But if itâs honest to god funky, uptempo, melodic,
dancey indie pop embridled with passionate enthusiasm and delivered in
blistering fashion that you're looking for - well Fridayâs gig in the Greyhound
is what you are after.
Fred have promised to whip you into submission showcasing new tunes intermingled
with the best songs from their first 2 albums; songs that have recently brought
them to the attention of the BBC award winning music show âAcross the Linesâ
and songs that have been used as the theme tune for comedian Des Bishopâs
latest show âIn De Hoodâ.
After packing the Cork Operahouse with the launch of their second album 'Making
music so you don't have to', they sold out the Spiegeltent at this yearâs Cork
Midsummer Festival, played support to Damien Dempsey in the Marquee and will
play support to Hal later this month.
Now, after playing at the Hard Working Class Heroes Festival in the Olympia,
Fred are back in Tralee to let Kerry gigsters experience the conga-lines,
piggy-back guitar solos and songs about vegetables that make Fred the most
exciting and above all, fun, live acts at the moment.
Musically they acknowledge such legends as Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Bill
Withers, and The Beach Boys as well as tipping their hat to such contemporaries
as Wilco and The Flaming Lips.
FRED began life as a hobby for three teenage lads (Jamie, Emmett and Liam) from
Tralee. A move to Cork city for college saw FRED grow to a six-piece as the
lads recruited three Corkonians Joseph, Justin and Eibhilin.
Middleclass Housewives is a three piece rock band based in Limerick, Ireland. They consist of John Carroll on Guitar and vocals formerly of IIIMedicIII. Dave Carroll on drums formerly of CrashLander, Red Eskimo and Bank of Ireland and Rob Carey on bass from Red Eskimo. John and Dave met when Dave was born in 1979 and have been playing various forms of music since. Although, since those early days the sound of thumping dave's head has been replaced by drums and the sound of strumming the bars inside a prison cell has been replaced by guitars. Rob is the latest addition, his bass style can be visually represented as something similar to the scene with the glass of water from Jurassic Park. Together they are a powerful live performance with songs catchier than a case of the ebola virus. They will begin their next tour of Ireland in September 2006, a must see for all music fans. Click on the vid below to view one our songs 'Knuckles' live at Limerick Boat Club recently. Thanks to Peter(PeterEskimo) for editing the video, and thanks to Steve(Windings), and Gigtown for the gig.
Exit: pursued by a bear count political and social satirists and expositors of sin, William Langland and Dante Alighieri as influences as well as the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth, James Joyless and other handsome radicals. The music, which began as a direct response to a series of uncomfortable silences and lulls in conversation has become the soundtrack to an investigation of the human condition. Every time the group meets it feels like a landmark in thinking, let alone music. Exit: pursued by a bear ring their collective tongue around the circumference of human experience, cleansing the anima and drowning the persona. The group have attracted interest from A and R people (Amish and Rastafarians) from both home and abroad, but are presently cautious about erecting any specific cultural or religious flag to their metaphorical mast. In short, the group are not quite ready to lay themselves bare.
ToneControl are a Cork based 5 piece band. Although they are hard to
define, their sound draws from both rock and electronica influences
with drum & bass beats present in force. toneControl serve up an
energetic and electric live set. Many stereos have been terminally
damaged trying to recreate their sound and it's suggested you should
just save yourself the trouble and come see them.

No stranger to ClubHeadBangBang Tino Ras is the name currently adopted for the music of Anto McCarthy. Loosely based between Kerry, Cork and Limerick, Anto is a founder member of Placid Recordings, who have been dedicated to producing interesting and original electronic music in Ireland since 2002. Anto has released under several different names in the past, such as Reece, Placid and Anto, to name but a few. His latest release, Hellas, is a four-track EP on Placid Recordings.
Tino Ras expanded permanently into a duo in 2005 with the addition of a projectionist [Paul] as an integral part of the setup.
Be ready for a night of fireworks, with sets moving from the dark and heavy brooding of the released tracks to the intense and frenetic spikes for which the live sets at Club HeadBangBang have become renowned.
Saviours of Space are Paul, Alan, Richie, Brendan and Phil. Since their
formation a few months ago, they have forced themselves upon the
unsuspecting general public with a shiny brand new set of songs at their
disposal, kicking and screaming with all the raw, live energy of an unborn
baby on steroids. The results have been largely suscessful. They've caused
safety hazards in a number of packed venues and played with the likes of The
Blizzards, Fred, Stanley Super 800, Dae Kim and The Distractions to name but
a few. They've also been busy as bees, writing new material at a frankly
frightening rate. The band's sound can be described as a melting pot of
garage rock, spaced out alternative grooves and even a bit of gypsy jazz
thrown in for good measure, all etched in shades of psychedelia! Here's what
the critics had to say:
"This is the most exciting young Irish band I've seen in a very long time.
Go and see what all the fuss is about as soon as you can, as this a live act
that simply can't be missed." John Daly, The Munster Express.
Oscar has been voted Alternative Wedding DJ of the Year for the last 5 years in "What Wedding DJ?" magazine, despite this he still can't seem to break the international wedding circuit although this year is rumoured to be his year! Already this year 4 hotels have pulled the plug on him nationally because the people just don't wanna hear the music end, riots have ensued on 2 occasions and water cannons are now deployed at every gig he plays!
'D.J. Sin, previous 'westside' resident of Galways Town Hall Theatre (back in the days of '100 & 10th street') has recently extracted herself from London's 'fashionable' music scene to return to play 'one night only' at Clubheadbangbang. Expect a night of down beat electronica, funky upbeat hip hop and some lush sitar and drumming melodies.'

making his début Irish appearance, skilled freestyle rapper 'Dos-Noun'.
Dos-Noun was raised by beatniks in a cold water flat below Houston Street
in New York City. Having to fend for himself since the age of three, he
developed keen powers of observation that enabled him to snag food off of
passing service carts. He taught himself to read by piecing together fragments
of the newsletters his parents would publish, and/or wrap their drugs in.
Twenty years later, Dos-Noun has become an artist in his own right. His honors
earned at the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Scribble Jam tournaments have made him a
star in the battle circuit and put his hideously scarred face on videotapes
sold the world over. His guerrila touring ethic has put him in places as
disparate as Tampere, Finland, Yokohoma, Japan, and Chattoonoga, Tennessee. He
has also played England, and recently completed an unprecedented self-booked
Europeantour that took him through seven nations (Netherlands, Hungary, Germany,
Denmark, Slovenia, Sweden, and Finland) with just a train pass and a tolerance
for pain. Dos-Noun is a touring dynamo and a freestyle prodigy.
He is also a magnet for controversy. His last album âCompellingâ has garnered
hate mail for its explosive cover art, as well as rave reviews for its stellar
musical content. So ultimately those with artistic integrity book, support, and
applaud Dos- Noun.
He continues to tour the world and share the stage with the likes of Atmosphere,
Sage Francis, Illogic, OhNo, Subconcious, Edan, Grand Buffett, Labtekone,
J-Live, Busy Bee, Scratch, Dice Raw, Last Emperor, Beat Nuts, Non Phixion, L
Fudge, Mr. Complex, Mr. Lif, Cannibal Ox, Eyedea & Abilities, Mr. Dibbs, and

The Death by Voltage story began in 2002, when 5 friends decided that there was not enough good live rock music in Cork for them so they decide to make there own.
The first incarnation of Death by Voltage included Ronan Duggan, Chris OâBrien, Brian Sheehan, Karol Lapot and Paul Burke.
Due to itchy feet they took a break to go and see the world and two got lost along the way but not before recording a 6 song demo in august 2004 called âWeaponsâ.
Chris OâBrien was replaced by Peter Crudge and due to the insistence of Paul Burke his position of rhythm guitar was not filled. The new line up was finally finished.
They are Ronan Duggan (vocals), Brian Sheehan (lead guitar/vocals), Karol lapot (base) and Peter Crudge (drums).
Since rehearsals began with the new line up in the summer of 2005 the band have penned several new songs and have just begun an intensive series of gigs -catch them while you can.
Brick Ribbion have been together since 2005 and is made up from ex-members of local groups 'Screaming Legions' 'Coda' and 'Crueltree' They supported 'Philtre' in Horans in Febuary, and are currently recording a demo which hopefully will be mixed by the time
of the gig, they count Metallica,Pantera,System of a Down,Iron
Maiden,Lizzy,Mudvayne amoung there influences
Patricide formed and started writing own material in mid of 04. Numerous(really we cant seem to keep a line up together) line up changes later we recorded our first(and at this point only) demo at creature studios.
Influences Lamb of God, Pantera, Metallica and too many others to mention. Line up is(hopefully it will stay this way) vocals-damien slattery bass-jay burke drums-billy nolan guitars- john lynch and dave herlihy.

In the Library District, publishing houses open telephone lines to coincide with the release of their most popular fiction titles. In the Sheds scattered across the city, actors are employed to play characters featured in the selected titles; engaging the endless stream of callers in fantastical conversations at premium rates. The industry is home to a syndrome known as Trespassing. Actors âgo overâ into character, sometimes never to be Reclaimed.

Described as a band âcapable of leaving any audience cheering and reeling for moreâ, Lerner have proved this over and over again. They are by no means afraid to show their ability to win a crowd over with their energy filled live shows.
Support slots to the likes of Kila, Mark Geary, Waiting Room, Hammel On Trial and Martin Finke have built the band an ever growing fan base in their own locality.
This six piece outfit have just released an album that they've been recording for the past year. Fresh off a series of successful live shows in the summer, Lerner hit the old garden shed, set up a beaten up drum kit, a few guitar amps and a karaoke microphone and kicked off the sessions to what was to be their debut studio album â..still, waiting..â. Engineered and co-produced by Karl Odlum.
Stanley Super 800 are a four piece indie-rock band from Cork. They formed in 2003 when a group of musicians from diverse musical
backgrounds- incorporating everything from trad to punk - came together to form a band. They have gained a reputation as one of Ireland's most exciting live acts using acoustic and electronic instruments with energy and originality.
Idle Hands are an energetic four piece band from Limerick. The band has a strong set of original songs that vary through all types of the rock genre. Nellboy is based in Cork City, Ireland and has been making music on his computer for 2 years. Before that, he was a guitarist in a rock band. And like Bryan Adams after the summer of â69, when his band split up, he decided to go solo. However, unlike Bryan Adams, he now makes electronic music, skirting the borders of techno, electro, house, glitch, pulse, minimal, punk/rock, and dub while not committing fully to any one style. A multi-instrumentalist, his set is 100% original material with live vocals, guitar, and melodica with FX, along with much tweaking of knobs and pushing of buttons, with one aim, to rock the bleedin gaff!!!!
Support from Tralees Dave Nealon
Dry County are Kevin Littlewood, Phil Porter, Joanne Parle and Stuart Flood. They have generally been recognised as one of the freshest and most interesting acts to emerge from Ireland in recent times. Live performances throughout the last few years months have seen the band build a growing audience for their post-everything pop music.
Their work brings together programmed beats with a carefully arranged band sound; guitars, keyboards, bass, vocals and occasionally live drums are added to the mix. Influences range from New Order to Animal Collective, Björk to Broken Spindles.
Somadrone is Neill O'Conor (member of Dublin's The Redneck Manifesto and The Connect Four Orchestra),who makes mellow deep electronica mixed with lots of guitars, bass, intricate gliches, strings and even vibraphone, as good as anything you will hear on the likes of the leaf label !
Piratio is the sound sculpturing alter-ego of Barry Prendergast, from
Galway... Comparisons are hard to pick, but a jumping off point (of sorts)
might be, on the one hand, the strange enveloping noises that Kevin Shields
excels at (when he's not guitar-chugging), or on the other, the austere
compositions of Arvo Part, Kaffe Matthews or Labradford. Barry has done
visuals (as eyedrenalin) for the Mor festival, Digital Bubblebath and loads
of other stuff.
Mirakil Whip formed seriously around summer 04. After years of being frustrated sidekicks to other projects Aaron Coyne and Anne Marie Deacy joined forces and soon began to realise their true potential in Mirakil Whip. Aaron plays- guitar, bass, pedals, vocals, beats Anne Marie plays- groovebox, sampler, synth and keyboards, accordion, vocals and beats Mirakil Whip have played along side some of Ireland's most interesting musicians who include Rustic Tacki, Smiling Politely, Stoat, Fred, Bushy Goose, Crayonsmith and Redneck Manifesto. The Mirakil Whip sound is a mixture of intense swelling guitar and droney bleepy keys and samples, punctuated by the dulcet tones of Coyne all set to a backdrop of mesmerising beats.

this week at ClubHeadBangBang there will be an exhibition of travel, nature and landscape photography of Tralee based photographer Eimear Griffin.
Awaré encapsulates the poignancy of our natural surroundings and extends
further to the concept of "yugen", which captures the imagination and makes
words inadequate to describe the images on view and the emotions they may

of locations, including Africa, China and Cuba.

Ten Past Seven are Matt on Bass, Ger on Drums and Rory on Guitar. Having witnessed the live monstrosity of local Cork bands such as Weevil (RIP) and Rest , they were inspired to create their own blend of instrumental madness. There followed a few weeks of intense writing, in which instrumentals were loudly and violently excreted from the artistic parts of their brains. After they had a small set together they started playing with bands such as Charlottefield, Mono, Brood, Noxagt, Berkeley, Giddy Motors, Redneck Manifesto and a shit load of other fantastic bands. There's too many to mention.
Originally from Kerry, they started the band in the month of September '02, when they moved to Cork to attend the Music, Management and Sound course in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa. They had been playing with another band called Rift for about 3 years and had enjoyed a little bit of success & did a couple of recordings, including a Dave Fanning Session for 2FM in Studio 8.
Cartoon is a music collaboration between producers and
musicians Darragh O'Connor, Bob Jackson and the finest jazz and soul musicians
in Cork City, Ireland. Cartoon released their debut EP First to Break on the
exclusive Parisian label Brique Rouge in August 2003. Subsequently the b-side
track "Time Change" featuring Chicago diva Karen Underwood has been released
on several house compilations including a special remix EP, copies of which
sold out in just 6 days. What distinguishes Cartoon from their fellow house
music producers are their additional talents as live musicians. Instead of
slotting into the usual producer/DJ category Cartoon have formed a versatile
live band complete with a powerful horn section, two highly experienced jazz/funk
guitarists, three singers as well as keys and drums from Darragh and Bob respectively.
As a result live music fans who may never dare venture to a club see a 'big
name DJ' are being awakened to the previously undiscovered pleasures of the
fusion of jazz, soul and funk with house music through Cartoon's scintillating
live performances. Explosive performances in front of 10,000 music fans at
the Oxegen Music Festival this year has brought further attention to Cartoonâs
live show and has won them slots to open for international acts such as Kerri
Chandler and Amp Fiddler.

Delorentos are a four-piece alternative rock band from
Dublin, comprising Ronan on vocals and guitar; NĂal on bass and vocals; Kieran
on vocals and guitar; and Ross on vocals and drums. The band concentrates
on co-operative song-writing, with the members writing different original
compositions with the resulting sounds varying from soft acoustic to angular
beat-driven rock. Delorentos sound is a mix of original alternative songwriting
with sharp riffs and tight rhythms to make music that is powerful and intimate,
strong and emotional.
Delorentos' release their debut EP, 'Leave It On',
on 14 October 2005 on Cottage/Delo Records, and will play ClubHeadBangBang
as part of their national tour. The 4-track EP comprises the title track plus

andmastered in Abbey Road studios.
After many downfalls and exciting moments the up and coming band now known as 'Screaming Legions' formaly known as 'The Electrodes' stormed through a series of gigs and competitions due to the talent of the three dedicated members Dave Henry,Aoife[Nancy]Moloney and of course Jennifer Bowler. Following much success such as playing support to The Hot House Flowers in the INEC Killarney, the band decided to part company with two former members in favour of the more talented and creative Seamus O Connor and Rue Hennesy. The newly esembled five piece achieved immediate success after only one weeks intensive practice they sailed through the first round of the Rose of Tralee Band Competition ensuring them a place in the grand final. Sadly Thursday will be the last of a series of gigs for talented singer/songwriter Nancy Moloney. Nancy has played a vital role in the bands success to date and will be greatly missed by members and fans alike. The band will perform a setlist of energetic originals and are sure to create a fantastic athmosphere for those who love to rock!!!!!!!!!!!!
Windings is Stephen Ryan [one half of Givamanakick], who
started playing live in 2002, since then Windings' sound has radically fluctuated
and distorted, but has always retained the sense of melody so intrinsic to
the music. Armed with only a guitar, a voice, and a bunch of strange little
effects pedals, Windings is a truly distinctive one man show. After selling
over 250 handmade demos (Fireworks Demo) through 2004 Irish live gigs alone,
Windings completed work on his debut album 'Windings' which ranges in style,
from the wonderful metallic clatter of Postal to the more folky introspection
of Bubbles, with Aisling Geary's [from Tralee] cooing counterbalancing Ryan's
worldweary vocals. The album is available on Out On A Limb Records.
Crayonsmith is the music of Ciaran Smith from Dublin, Ireland. When he was eight years old, Ciaran robbed his sisterâs Bontempi keyboard, and, together with a pre-historic radio and a cassette of The Beach Boysâ âSummer Dreamsâ, he began learning to play his favourite songs on keyboard and, later, guitar. Having played in various musical projects and bands from the age of twelve, Ciaran had always been writing and recording pop/rock songs by himself in his bedroom as a side-project, using guitar, keys, drum-machine and a four-track. In early 2004, Ciaran began playing these songs live under the name Crayonsmith. Ciaran has just recorded his debut album in his bedroom and then took these recordings to Steve Fanagan (North Station, Moose Eats Leaf, Old Man Polka) for touch up mixing and production and is due out soon.

Michael Knight are a Dublin-based indie pop group. They have been compared to artists like the Beach Boys, the Divine Comedy, Burt Bacharach and Rufus Wainwright. While they have an undoubted 60's fondness for killer tunes, they are also vaguely experimentally inclined â unusual chord changes, wilfully obtuse tunes, millions of vocals and odd song structures. They've garnered airplay on 2FM and Today FM and numerous local stations, and have shared the stage with acts such as Neosupervital and El Diablo.

Mr. Whitman hails from Boston in the US of A, and is currently on a European

films, lectures, tours extensively, runs two record labels as well as a mail
order shop from his bedroom and still finds time for his cat. His musical
output ranges from the mentalist beats released under his Hrvatski moniker,
to the textured electro-acoustic soundscapes under his given name Keith Fullerton

Dublin band Groom play an eclectic mix of progressive rock, electronic, synth-pop and folk. Coming together in 2004, Groom was formed out of the ashes of alt pop band Settler. Mike and Wil from Settler were joined by electronic wiz Liam Dunne and powerhouse drummer Brian OâHiggins to form one of the cityâs more colourful bands.
With one electropop album, Stitch (which got eight stars in Hot Press) and a remix EP, The Groom and Wave EP, already under their belts, as well as some rather quirky videos, Groom are presently recording a new album. Featuring some post-Neil Young songwriting and some Grandaddy-ish aesthetics, it promises to display Groomâs curious blend of brain-pop and nerd-rock mixed into an electronic swirl.
El flatulo and LMD64, will be providing choonage before and after the gig, prepare to be stunned and appalled, and also vaguely bemused, thrown into a state of disarray and partially discombobulated.
Dwight - In a nutshell - mildly disturbed, somewhat melodic, severely catchy rock music.
Three brothers bringing their infectious melodies to the masses.
Recent performances include guest appearances with Fred, Pony Club and Alphastates.
In May they were selected as finalists in the Murphy's Live competition in
recognition of their energetic live performances.
Their brand of quirkiness has been likened to "...the Kinks after a few double
espressos." - Cluas.com live review. "This is fantastic" - Alison Curtis, Today FM
on Dwight's EP 'Kill or Cure' released 2004. Currently Dwight are road testing a
plethora of new songs for their debut album and spreading the Dwight Blight to all
who will listen. Catch them while you can.
Stupid Betty are a four piece rock band from Tralee, who play intensely
original and varied music, vaguely influenced by the Beatles, the Chili
Peppers, the Smiths, and the Flecktones. Songs range from love ballads to
metal to lyrically focused atonal musings to politically charged punk rock
rants. Canaries may also make an appearance. Not a real appearance, a
metaphorical appearance. And not much of one at that.
Stupid Betty
themselves enjoy long walks on the beach, short walks on the beach, having a
phobia of the beach and backgammon.
Combining enviable vocal agility with musical guitaring and likeable on-stage presence, Anto' can hit the heart or the funny bone as he wishes. ClubHeadBangBang are honoured to host Inches' debut gig,
Hot Press magazine have this gig in their 'top 10 gigs of the fortnight' list,
Inches is a three-piece band who have formed out of Maersk
(who are on hiatus at the moment). Seeing as this is their debut gig, it's
a bit hard to describe what they're like, but they play music that is occasionally
like The For Carnation, June of 44, static on the telly, um, Fugazi, Autechre,
random noises, drones, mid-80s stadium rock, and about a million other things.
You'll have to just head along and find out. Friday also sees the return of
DJ Modh Coinniolach [who was ClubHeadBangBangs first every guest dj, fado
fado, anyone remember that ? ] plus DJ Miss Euros, Disco
Pistols, and some other suprise DJ's.

Smiths, Cure & early U2, the band draws on a wealth of musical diversity and background. We could go on about what type of music Leya play where they
come from, but why bother when we can say this: while in the states during
the summer they enjoyed beers with Aerosmith, hung out backstage with The
Killers, and played pool with The Strokes, the also managed to fit in Oxegen
and T in the Park. Next week the play support to Franz Ferdinand in Belfast.
Buzy guys !

Giveamanakick are Keith and Steve.
They've been deafening eager and ecstatic audiences with their own unique brand of noisy, riff-mangling Rock n' Roll.
Having spent 2 years playing with various rock luminaries and music press darlings such as The Icarus Line, eX-Girl, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Electric Eel Shock, VAZ, Isis, The Soledad Brothers, Melt Banana, The Hanson Bros, Black Eyes, The Undertones and Rocket From The Crypt amongst others, giveamanakick decided to record and unleash their musical wrath on the unsuspecting public. After an extensive UK tour, their now near legendary appearances at Oxegen, and live performances on Net2 and TG4, they knew it was time...
Twins Brian and Conor O'Brien along with Brian Meaney have been playing together since 2002 and in October '04 discovered guitarist Bryan Griffin who was that final missing piece in the Roper puzzle! With the current line-up, Roper have found a unique sound that breaks down traditional rock/metal barriers winning fans in even the most unlikely audiences with their distinctive style of high energy potent melodic metal.
Roper won the first ever Miller Strat Band of the Year competition held at Limerick's Trinity Rooms (Ireland) venue in January 2005, beating off 23 other bands for the winning title. As part of the prize they have been in studio recording a three-track promo cd entitled Left to Stampede containing the title track along with Soul Fibre and My Release.
The recording seemed to catch the attention of the good people at Whelans of Wexford Street, Dublin, as they invited Roper to take part in their Brave New Stage band competition in April 2005. Only 20 bands were invited to participate in the heats out of 600+ entries from all over Ireland and Roper made it down to the final five bands!

These interlocking, musical rhythms have had a mesmerising effect on audiences at events such as the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Puck Fair, Cork Mid-Summer Arts Festival, Killarney Summer Fest, the River Festival Ballinasloe and in Siamsa Tire, Tralee as part of the Samhlaiocht Ciarrai, Kerry Arts Festival.
